Saigon Co.op is a pioneering enterprise
in building a modern retail system with the most diverse business models in Vietnam.
We continue to strengthen our position with a chain of beloved brands, trusted by millions of Vietnamese consumers.

Saigon Co.op marked the shift from traditional to modern retail with the launch of Co.opmart Cong Quynh in District 1. The idea for this supermarket chain originated from the dreams of Saigon Co.op’s officials and employees to build a modern and civilized retail system that remained friendly and approachable to the working class. Their vision was to build a modern, civilized retail system that remained friendly and accessible to the working class and civil servants, diverging from other supermarkets that primarily targeted high income customers. This significant turning point laid the foundation for Vietnam’s modern, indigenous retail industry.

The modern retail model, born from the alliance of 2 leading cooperatives of Vietnam (Saigon Co.op) and Singapore (NTUC FairPrice), has enhanced the capacity of the retail sector and promoted Vietnamese goods to the international market. Over the past decade, Co.opXtra has expanded its sales system to HCMC’s busiest districts, such as District 7 and District 10, with each store averaging an area of 10,000 square meters and more extensive. The presence of Co.opXtra covers all market segments and serves a diverse range of customers, becoming a perfect piece in the development strategy of Saigon Co.op.

As an extension of Co.opmart, Co.op Food reflects Saigon Co.op’s commitment and effort to “always satisfy customers and strive for perfection”. This commitment is affirmed through the strategy of expanding the retail network and strengthening market share while flexibly diversifying retail models, supplementing existing sales channels, and bringing new utilities to consumers.

Following the success of the Co.opXtra hypermarket model, Cheers is the second retail model formed by the joint venture between Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Co-operatives (Saigon Co.op) and Singapore’s NTUC FairPrice. Upon entering the Vietnamese market, Cheers aimed to serve a customer group with a busy lifestyle that seeks a “grab-and-go” shopping experience in major cities.
