Saigon Co.op received the 2024 Cooperative Star Award
Cooperative Star is an award to honor cooperatives with outstanding achievements in production and business development activities, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
The Vietnam Cooperative Alliance has just held a ceremony to honor 100 outstanding cooperatives and cooperative unions and awarded the Vietnam Cooperative Star Award 2024 "Co-op Star Awards 2024" on the evening of April 11 in Hanoi. Cooperative Star 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) was honored to receive the Cooperative Star Award 2024 "Co-op Star Awards 2024" from the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance.The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, Ms. Cao Xuan Thu Van - President of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, Mr. Le Minh Hoan - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development...
This event is organized to recognize and honor cooperatives and cooperative unions with outstanding achievements in production and business development activities, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the country, introducing, promoting, and connecting collective economic organizations and other economic sectors.
The cooperatives were honored based on the following criteria: business results, building a sustainable value supply chain towards green consumption, applying science and technology... In which, Saigon Co.op is the unit with excellent business results, fully and comprehensively meeting the above criteria. At the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - General Director of Saigon Co.op - said: "Receiving the Cooperative Star Award on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its establishment is a great honor, with profound meaning for the staff of Saigon Co.op. As a unit with strong traditions and characteristics of the Vietnamese economy, Saigon Co.op is a new type of cooperative economic organization based on the principle of collective ownership and autonomy in production and business activities. It is that intrinsic value that has helped the enterprise absorb positive values, creating a driving force for steady development".
Saigon Co.op: A special cooperative Established in 1989, after 35 years of construction and development, Saigon Co.op has become the leading consumer goods retailer in Vietnam, a typical and pioneering unit in the collective economic sector. Along with the first establishment of Co.opmart Cong Quynh supermarket, Saigon Co.op determined the development strategy and mission of the system to become a distributor of Vietnamese goods, true to the nature of the cooperative which is self-service and mass service. Up to now, Saigon Co.op is serving 1 million customers/day with more than 4 million loyal members and owns more than 800 points of sale including Co.opmart supermarket along with other brands in the retail ecosystem such as Co.opXtra, Co.opFood, Co.op Smile, Cheers 24h, SC Vivo City, Sense City, Sense Market... covering all market segments.
Implementing the strategy of maintaining market share, Saigon Co.op promotes e-commerce, integrating better customer experience through AI technology (artificial intelligence)... This technology helps the unit better understand customer behavior, forecast the market to lead the market and thereby effectively connect customers and business partners. Over the years, Saigon Co.op has closely coordinated with the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance to implement cooperation contents, supporting the cooperative model in Vietnam to develop rapidly and sustainably on the basis of a solid and updated legal corridor, flexible operating methods in line with the integration trend, supporting the formation of product consumption value chains between Saigon Co.op's supermarket system and cooperatives nationwide, mainly agricultural products and OCOP products. This cooperation also contributes to bringing Vietnamese goods and domestically produced goods to have the opportunity to export to international markets through Saigon Co.op's strategic partner, NTUC FairPrice (Singapore). In 2023, Saigon Co.op will export Vietnamese agricultural and seafood products to the Singapore market with a total export value of nearly VND 90 billion through strategic partner NTUC FairPrice.
