Saigon Co.op signed MOUs to build a sustainable supply chain

(Chinhphu.vn) - On March 8, at the Conference on connecting and building a sustainable supply chain for improved quality of Vietnamese goods, Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives (Saigon Co.op) signed MOUs with 6 trading partners in food essentials.

Accordingly, Saigon Co.op signed MOUs with 6 businesses and cooperatives, including Anh Hoang Thy Co., Ltd and San Ha Co., Ltd (suppliers of cattle and poultry meat); Nhuan Duc Safe Vegetable Cooperative, MeKong Delta Food Co. and Xuan Thai Thinh Co. (suppliers of fruits and vegetables); and Tan My Cooperative (fruit supplier). These partners currently supply an average of 500 tons of goods per month to Saigon Co.op's distribution systems.

Saigon Co.op and these partners are committed to, together, building a sustainable green supply chain to serve consumers; ensuring consumers’ health benefits, promoting production and business efficiency, and maintaining market stabilization, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of the "Vietnamese people prioritize Vietnamese goods" campaign.

The cooperation aims to connect and support market development for domestic and unique products of Ho Chi Minh City over imported and export-oriented goods; facilitating direct connections between Saigon Co.op and trading partners in order to promptly share market information, experiences in developing distribution channels as well as standardized information to supply goods into Saigon Co.op’s distribution systems.

This cooperation also contributes to providing Vietnamese and domestically produced goods with more opportunities to, through Saigon Co.op's strategic partner - NTUC FairPrice (Singapore), enter international market. In 2023, thanks to this strategic partner NTUC FairPrice, Saigon Co.op could export a total value of nearly 90 billion VND of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to the Singaporean market.

The Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City and Saigon Co.op proactively cooperate to mobilize and connect businesses operating in the fields of high-tech agriculture, agricultural and food processing, and suppliers of local specialty products within the city; and those in neighboring provinces having good and reputable products, advanced technology, and at the same time planning to expand their business network.

In 2023, Saigon Co.op achieved a revenue of nearly 30,000 billion VND, of which online sales accounted for more than 1,700 billion VND, growing by 20.7%. Saigon Co.op, together with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, participated in a series of socio-economic development cooperation programs between the city and provinces and cities across the country to develop supply chains, commodity value chains, and connect supply and demand; promoting trade and circulation of goods in accordance with the orientation and planning of each province and city.
